Dr. Abhijit Joshi | Renowned Ayurveda Expert Dr. Abhijit Joshi Takes Charge as Vice-Chancellor
Pune : Dr. Abhijit Joshi | Dr. Abhijit Joshi, founder of Tilak Maharashtra University’s Ayurveda Department, has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Desbhagat University in Chandigarh through nomination. He will assume the position on Gurupurnima.
Dr. Joshi’s educational journey began in his hometown of Shirala, a small village in the Sangli district, where he attended Zilla Parishad School for his early schooling. He then pursued his secondary education at New English School in Shirala.
Having completed his Ayurvedacharya and M.A. Sanskrit degrees from Shivaji University, Kolhapur, he went on to obtain an MD from Pune University. Additionally, he pursued a course in Ayurveda and completed his Ph.D. from Tilak Maharashtra University.
Dr. Joshi has been conferred with the honorary degrees of D.Litt and D.Sc from six esteemed universities in India and abroad, a testament to his exceptional accomplishments in the field.
His expertise extends to the domains of Sanskrit, Vedic studies, and Advaita Vangamaya, which he acquired from Shankaracharya Karveer Peetha in Kolhapur. Over the past twenty-two years, he has dedicated himself to teaching and conducting research in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Dr. Joshi’s research work has garnered recognition, with over 70 of his papers published in India and abroad. He has successfully completed seven research projects funded by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and is currently engaged in two international projects.
His contributions to the field of Ayurveda have been acknowledged by renowned institutions worldwide, including Harvard University in Boston, USA, Yoga Sanskritham University in Florida, Lincoln College University in Malaysia, Karnataka Sanskrit University, and Deccan College.
In recognition of his socially impactful research, Dr. Joshi was honored with the President’s Award Badarayan Vyas by the Government of India in 2019. He has also received accolades such as the 2021 Bharat Kirtiman Alankaran, Maharashtra Gaurav Award, and the Harvard University Global Systems Award.
