DG Loan Scheme | Financial Relief for Police Personnel: DG Loan Scheme Re-launched with Rs 700 Crore Allocation

Mumbai : DG Loan Scheme | The Maharashtra government has recently re-launched the DG Loan Scheme for police houses, which had been closed for the past three years. Under this scheme, a total of Rs 700 crore has been allocated to provide financial assistance to police personnel for their own houses. This decision was announced by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during the semi-annual crime review conference of the police.

The DG Loan Scheme holds significant importance for the Maharashtra Police Force. It allows employees, up to the rank of constable, to easily obtain loans of up to Rs 20 lakhs directly from the police department for the purpose of housing.

With a police force comprising around 1.2 lakh personnel in the state, including approximately 18,000 to 20,000 officers, there remains a considerable number of individuals who do not have a proper dwelling. Unfortunately, the scheme was discontinued when the Maha Vikas Aghadi government came into power, leading to financial difficulties for the police force. Recognizing the challenges faced by the police and the demand for the resumption of the scheme, the government has taken the decision to revive it.

The re-launch of the DG Loan Scheme brings hope to thousands of policemen who have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to secure their rightful housing. It is estimated that there are numerous pending home loan applications before the government, highlighting the pressing need for housing support among the police personnel.

The relaunched DG Loan Scheme aims to address these concerns and provide financial assistance to eligible police personnel to help them acquire their own houses. The availability of Rs 700 crore for this purpose demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting its police force and addressing their housing needs.

As the scheme resumes, it is expected that eligible police officers will be able to take advantage of the interest-free loans offered by the scheme, easing their financial burden and allowing them to secure suitable housing for themselves and their families.
