Keeping this in view, Thane city is getting a face lift. The roads have been broadened, beautification of city had taken place and it is developing at a greater pace. Approval has been given for the Thane -Borivali tunnel and in near future the distance between Thane and Borivali can be covered with in just 10 minutes,” said Chief Minister Mr Eknath Shinde. The Chief Minister was speaking after the Bhumi Pujan and public dedication of development projects in Owala Majiwada constituency. The development is going on in the Thane Municipal Corporation jurisdiction with the assistance of the grants given by the state government and the follow-up by the Member of Legislative Assembly Pratap Sarnaik. The program was held at Kashinath Ghanekar auditorium. Tribal development Minister Vijay Kumar Gavit, Adivasi Kshetra Aadhawa Samiti chief Vivek Pandit, Member of Legislative Assembly Pratap Sarnaik, former legislator Ravindra Pathak, ex- mayor Naresh Mhaske, Minakshi Shinde, Ashok Vaiti, former corporator Devram Bhoir, former chief of standing committee Ram Repale, Sanjay Bhoir, former corporator Parisha Sarnaik, ex- corporator Purvesh Sarnaik, commissioner of Thane Municipal Corporation Abhijeet Bangar, district magistrate Ashok Shingare, commissioner of Mira Bhayander municipal corporation Dilip Dhole and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Speaking further, chief minister Mr Shinde said that the work for giving respite to the inhabitants of Thane from traffic congestion is in progress and healthy city is coming up. The public dedication and Bhumi Pujan done today is evident. Mr Shinde further said that many sports person of international level should be created in our city. Children have skills and the state government is taking efforts to provide them useful platform. He said that the development works are being carried out from the funds of the citizens so there should be no compromise in the quality of work. He reiterated that efforts are on for overcoming the traffic congestion in Thane city and said that cluster project will be implemented in entire Thane and Mumbai Metropolitan region.

The Chief Minister further said that if the roads are broad and good quality, the progress of city gains momentum and as such the state government had given priority for the construction of Nagpur -Mumbai Samruddhi Highway, Trans harbor link road, missing link on Mumbai- Pune highway and other such projects. He said that soon the Nagpur- Mumbai Samruddhi Highway will be extended till Thane and the entire route will be eco- friendly. He asserted that his government has given priority for taking decisions that are in the interest of common people.

Speaking on the occasion, tribal development minister Vijaykumar Gavit said that Chief Minister Mr Shinde had taken initiation for various developmental work for tribal community. He said that in coming two years, the construction of roads connecting the hamlets -Paadas of tribal community will be completed and there will be no paucity of funds for this development work. He said that as a result, the development of tribal area will be experienced and it will help in lessening the malnutrition, mother mortality rate and other such factors. He also said that in last year 93 thousand houses have been given to tribal families and this year 1.25 lakh new houses will be provided for the tribal. He said that all the hamlets of tribal are provided power connection and decision to the effect has been taken by the state government. He also said that the construction of hostels for tribal female students is starting today on the land provided to Municipal Corporation. He said that 320 girl students can be accommodated in this hostel, adding that MLA Pratap Sarnayak had taken special efforts for erecting the hostels.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Pratap Sarnaik said that today we are witnessing through this program how the ‘Thane of the Chief Minister’ should be. He said that the inhabitants of Thane were given more than sufficient without demanding for any facility adding that the Chief Minister can recognize the needs and necessity of the people of Thane. He further said that we are taking efforts for solving the drinking water problem of Thane city by providing water through Surya dam. He said that in near future, 250 MLD water will be provided from Surya Dam and it will resolve the water problem of this region.

The introductory note of the program was given by commissioner of Thane Municipal Corporation Abhijit Bangar. He said that the construction of roads is undertaken on large scale under the Mukhyamantryacnhe Badalte Thane (The changing Thane of the Chief Minister) program. He said that all the development works that were started are now taking shape and attracting people. He said that the specialty of this construction and development work is that it is of the best quality and chief minister Mr Shinde is always monitoring the quality. He is guiding the administration and instructing from time to time. He said that the chief minister himself appears on the spot to check the quality of the ongoing work and so the entire machinery remains alert.
The Chief Minister performed the Bhumi Pujan of Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Vipassana center at Kasarvadavali, Shivsena Pramukh Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Memorial Park and digital aquarium. He public dedicated senior poet litterateur late Baburao Marutirao Sarnaik gymnastic center, Mahamanav, Shiv, Shahu, Phule, Ambedkar Memorial Hall, girls hostel to be constructed by tribal development department, late Sindhutai Sapkal Archery Training Centre using remote.
