Telecom Companies to be Penalized If Call Drop Happens

Along with the common people, the country’s Prime Minister also facing the call drop problem. That’s why for solving the call drop issue, Telecom Regulatory  Authority of India (TRAI) implemented a new law, which will be implemented from October 1, 2018.  Now, telecom companies have to pay penalty for the same.

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi was traveling from Delhi airport to PM House, at that time he faced the call drop issue. After that, he did complaint regarding this. After Modi’s complaint, TRAI arranged a meeting of Telecom companies in the first week of October.

What is mean by call drop:

From now onward, Not only missing the network while talking on mobile but missing the voice, obstacles to voice or network becomes weak while talking is also considered under the call drop. Call dropping has become the serious issue. Lots of people facing this problem for several days.

After 2010, the first time the definition of call drop has changed. As well as, provision has been made for the data dropping also. Customers should get high-speed data for downloading at least 90% of the time in a month.

Companies have to pay penalty up to 5 lakhs:

According to the new law, there will be checking off each mobile tower every day. If call gets dropped, while talking, there is provision made and according to this telecom companies have to pay money as a penalty up to Rs. 5 lakhs. Two percent of calls will come under the technical reasons, but companies have to pay on remaining call dropping.

 

What Telecom companies have to say:

Telecom companies have put their side. According to these companies, “Call dropping happen because of excessive use of data. Companies have built Antennas on towers for data. Data is the source of benefits for the companies.  But this excessive use of call drops becomes the main reason for call dropping.”

Nowadays, the voice calling through data is increasing by users. But other on side number of mobile of towers are less, which includes 2G, 3G towers. Companies are upgrading these towers to 4G. it will be expanded around 120 % in upcoming five years. Therefore companies will more focus on developing basic services of Data instead of voice calling.
