Sanjay Matale, man who saved seven girls from drowning, being praised by all

PUNE: The city was shocked by the accident involving nine girls in the Khadakwasla Dam on Monday morning. The nine girls who had come from Buldhana district on a tour of Pune drowned. Unfortunately, two girls died and seven girls were saved.

 

A person who jumped into the water without caring for his life to save the girls is being praised by all for his valour. He has been identified as Sanjay Sitaram Matale (60), a resident of Gorhe Khurd (Haveli taluka) and he has proved a saviour for seven girls.

 

When Sanjay Matale had come to the Khadakwasla dam area, he heard loud cries for help. He ran immediately and he saw that some girls were drowning and jumped into the water. Till then, Rajendra Jori, Kalidas Matale, Shivaji Matale and Ramesh Bhame came near the shore to provide help. Sanjay Matale brought four girls who were unconscious and a woman to safety.

 

Jay Matale was bringing the girls to the shore and Rajendra Jori, Kalidas Matale, Shivaji Matale and Ramesh Bhame were removing water from their stomach. Displaying guts, Sanjay Matale took five girls to a safer place and they were given first aid and sent to a hospital in Khanapur.
Unfortunately, despite making best efforts, Sanjay Matale could not locate two girls who drowned and lost their life.

 

Speaking about the incident, Sanjay Matale said, “When I heard cries for help, I ran and jumped into the water. Some others had also come to help. I brought five unconscious girls to safety and handed them to others. I could not locate two other girls. My friends and relative are calling me and praising me for doing good work. I am overwhelmed by their response.”
