Pune Rains | Anxiety Grips Pune as Monsoon Rainfall Hits Decade Low

Pune : Pune Rains | The city has recorded 83.9 mm rainfall in the month of June this year. This month has recorded the third lowest rainfall in the last ten years. In 2014, only 13.8 mm fell, while in 2022, 35 mm was recorded.

 

Fifteen days into the month of July, only 40 mm has been recorded so far, which is the lowest rainfall recorded in the last ten years. Due to this, there will be an increase in the anxiety of Pune residents.

 

The Indian Meteorological Department has announced that the rainfall this year is less. So it is becoming clear with the rain so far. Monsoon arrived late in June. After that, there was no rain in June. After that, it was expected that there would be good rain in the month of July. But, even after half a month, heavy rain is still waiting.

 

In the last two years, there is no hope of rain. Last year too, only 35 mm of rain fell in the month of June, while floods occurred in July. 386 mm of rain was recorded then. This year too, there is a possibility of heavy rain by the end of July. The weather department has also given the same forecast.

 

“Rainfall in Pune city is less than average. Shivajinagar has minus 46 percent, Pashan minus 30, Lohgaon minus 20 percent. But, this average will fill up in the coming weeks. – Anupam Kashyapi, Head of Department, Indian Meteorological Department
