Pune: Pune Police Commissioner Takes Legal Action Against Notorious Criminal Mahesh, alias Dadya Baban Gajesingh, Under MPDA

Pune: To curb the menace of increasing organised crime in Pune, Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar invoked the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act against the notorious criminal Mahesh alias Dadya Baban Gajesingh, aged 29, and a resident of Tilekarnagar, Kondhwa Budruk, Pune. This marks the 94th action taken by the Police Commissioner to maintain law and order in the city.

Mahesh, known as Dadya Gajesingh, has a criminal record in the Kondhwa Police Station and has been a source of terror in various police station limits, including Kondhwa, Hadapsar, Mundhwa, and Wanwadi. The accused, along with his accomplices, have been involved in serious crimes such as murder, forcible theft, robbery, grievous hurt, and illegal possession of weapons like machetes, swords, and wooden sticks within police station limits.

Over the past five years, he has been linked to six serious criminal cases, disrupting public order in the area. Citizens, gripped by fear of life and property loss, were refraining from openly reporting his activities.

The proposal to take legal action against Mahesh, alias Dadya Gajesingh, was submitted to Commissioner Ritesh Kumar by Senior Police Inspector Santosh Sonawane of Kondhwa Police Station. Following a thorough examination of the proposals and supporting documents, Commissioner Ritesh Kumar directed that Mahesh Gajesingh be incarcerated in Nagpur Central Jail for one year under the provisions of the MPDA Act.

This significant action was taken by the collaborative efforts of Senior Police Inspector Santosh Sonawane, Pune Crime Branch Senior Police Inspector Chandrakant Bedare, and dedicated police officers and enforcers.
