Pune: Pune Lok Sabha Maha Yuti-BJP candidate Murlidhar Mohol has expressed the confidence that India will emerge as the third largest economy in the world by 2027 after it rose to the 5th spot from the 10th rank under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Mohol was speaking on Monday at a gathering of the Pune City BJP traders and businesspersons association. BJP City Unit Chief Dheeraj Ghate, Umesh Shah, Pravin Chorbele, famous jeweller Fatechand Ranka, Mahendra Pitliya, Raikumar Nahar, Tulsidas Patel, Ratan Kirad, Rajendra Bhatia, and Damjibhai Patel were present.

Mohol said, “FDI has doubled during the Modi government’s rule and went up to USD 640 crore. There were only 500 start-ups in the country till 2014. Their number has gone up to 1.16 lakh in the past decade. India ranks third in the world in the number of start-ups. Loans amounting to Rs 26.12 lakh crore have been disbursed under the PM Mudra Scheme. Exports have received a boost after the GST system has been implemented and the imbalance in commerce and trade has been removed.

“I am committed to set up standard infrastructure to make Pune a leading trade centre; to try and generate massive employment at the local level; to build a mega trade centre outside the city; to develop an international convention centre; and to solve all major and minor problems of the trading community.
