Pune Lok Sabha seat bypoll: I cannot say anything before EC’s announcement, says Ajit Pawar

Pune : NpNews24 Online  – The Leader of the Opposition, Ajit Pawar, had cancelled his programmes and was ‘not reachable.’ This has led to speculation in political circles. However, Ajit Pawar continued with his fixed engagements from Saturday. After inaugurating a jewellery shop in Kharadi, he spoke with media persons and gave an explanation about not being reachable. He also made an important statement while speaking about the Pune Lok Sabha bypoll.

Ajit Pawar, while speaking about the statement made by BJP leader Girish Mahajan about the need to conduct the Pune Lok Sabha seat bypoll, said, “One year and some months remain for the next LS poll. Different elections are held and the decision will be taken by the EC. When the EC announces the holding of the election, various parties will voice their views. At present, the EC has not made any announcement and hence, I cannot say anything.”

When asked about Sharad Pawar’s interview, he said, “I saw Sharad Pawar’s interview. He is our supreme leader. I cannot speak about his opinion or views. What he says is the stand of our party.”

While speaking about not being reachable, Pawar said, “I am a human being. While leaving for a programme, I had an acidity problem. When I stay awake till late hours and go on too many tours, I face acidity problems. This has happened to me earlier also. Hence, I went to the doctor and took some pills and took rest. I am following my schedule from today. I am very upset because of inaccurate reports carried by the media. The media should stop defaming people without any reason. There is a limit to which you can defame somebody. The media should first confirm facts before carrying any news.”
