Pune: Facebook Friendship Turns Deceitful; 20-Year-Old Girl Cheated Enticing False Marriage Promise

Pune: By repeatedly maintaining physical relations with the girl by cajoling her with a fake marriage promise, the accused then reneged on his word and married another girl. Therefore, a complaint of fraud and cheating was registered against the accused at Mundhwa police station.

In this case, a 20-year-old victim girl living in Ghorpadi village filed a complaint at Mundhwa police station on Tuesday, February 20.

According to the complaint, the accused, Chetan Chander Muttal, a resident of Koparkhairane, and the girl initially met through the social media application Facebook. After a few acquaintances, the accused pulled the girl into his fake love trap and falsely promised her marriage.

On the basis of this, the accused maintained physical relations with the girl by taking her to different locations. However, after some time, when the girl asked the accused about marriage, he started evading her questions and started giving vague answers. Meanwhile, the accused Chetan went to his village in Satara and married another girl.

After learning about it, the girl reported the entire incident to Mundhwa police. The police accordingly filed a police case under IPC 376 and 376/2/N against the accused and started an investigation into the case. Further investigation is being conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Sutar.
