Pune: A distressing incident unfolded within the jurisdiction of Khadak police station. A minor girl, en route to her tuition classes, fell victim to molestation and threats, sparking outrage and prompting swift police action. The incident, occurring between June 2023 and February 19, unfolded in front of a class in the Kirad Houd area.

On Tuesday (20th), a 16-year-old girl hailing from Nana Peth filed a complaint at the Khadak Police Station, detailing her traumatic encounter. Consequently, a case was registered against the accused, identified as Yashraj Dinesh Patole, a resident of Ganjpeth, near Saavdhan Mandal, Pune, under the IPC 354(a), 354(d), 504, 506, and POCSO Act.

According to police statements, the accused and the victim shared acquaintances. While the girl traversed the streets to attend her classes in the Kirad Houd area, the accused loitered nearby, casting unsettling glances in her direction. When confronted by the girl, the accused brazenly solicited her mobile number, professing his love for her. Gripped by fear, the girl refrained from disclosing the encounter to anyone. However, the situation escalated when the accused passed her a note bearing his mobile number, menacingly threatening to wreak havoc in her house if she failed to call him.

Subsequently, the intimidated girl relented and contacted the accused, only to face further coercion. Despite her refusal to meet him, the accused stopped her on the street, verbally abused her and attempted to molest her, leaving her emotionally scarred.

Seeing the distressed and fearful situation of the girl, her father asked her the reason behind it. After that, the girl disclosed the harrowing experience with her father through which she suffered. Astonishingly, when the girl’s father called the accused to confront her about it, the accused menacingly abused the girl’s father and also threatened him.

Following this, the girl filed a complaint with the police. Assistant Police Inspector Deokar is investigating further into the incident.
