Pune Cyber Crime | City-based entrepreneur cheated of Rs 23.88 lakh by Vietnamese national while starting crypto exchange
Pune : NpNews24 Online Pune Cyber Crime | A city-based businessman, who wanted to launch a crypto exchange, was cheated by a software developer from Vietnam. The softpro transferred crypto tokens worth Rs 2.34 lakh to his account.
The 29-year-old entrepreneur from Bavdhan lodged a complaint at the Cyber Police Station in this regard. The police have booked Vo Thi Hong Diep, Wang Jung (Tran Van Vinh), NguydenKhac Thinh, all citizens of Vietnam and Suma Akhtar, a citizen of Bangladesh. The incident took place between January 25 and April 25.
According to the police, the complainant is a software engineer. He has founded a company to run a crypto exchange. He has asked Wang Jung to do coding for his company. The complainant’s server suddenly conked off on April 17. It took him two days to restart it. He then realized that all tokens on his server disappeared. He told this to Wang Jung. He told the complainant that the server got hacked and the tokens were stolen. However, the complainant found out that Wang Jung had cheated him.
Wang Jung stole the hot wallet private key and other passwords while coding for the complainant. He illegally accessed the company server and committed a theft worth Rs 23.88 lakh. He transferred 2.34 lakh cryptox tokens to his and his accomplices’ account.
The complainant lodged a complaint at the Cyber Police Station. PI Ankush Chintamani is investigating.
