ACB Trap On Lady Police Inspector | Woman PI in trouble, as police constable nabbed red-handed accepting bribe on her behalf
Aurangabad : NpNews24 Online – ACB Trap On Lady Police Inspector | A police constable was arrested by the Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB), Aurangabad while accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000 on behalf of his senior, a woman police inspector (PI).
The woman PI had demanded Rs 25,000 monthly bribe (hafta) from a gutkha seller. However, she settled for Rs 10,000 per month. As she was on leave, her subordinate police constable took the monthly bribe of Rs 10,000 on her behalf and Rs 2,000 for himself.
The woman PI has been identified as Sunita Misal and the police constable as Ranjit Mahadev Shirsat.
The ACB team nabbed Shirsat red-handed at Daulatabad while search was on for PI Misal. The complainant youth had started smuggling in gutkha two months ago. The Daulatabad police got a tip-off about this. Police constable Shirsat summoned the gutkha seller and introduced him to PI Misal. She told him to meet her after two days. He realized what she meant by this. So, he lodged a complaint with the ACB.
Later, the ACB asked him to meet PI Misal on March 24. The complainant, along with the ACB panch, met the police officer. She asked him who was accompanying him. He told her that he was a wholesaler of gutkha. She asked the policeman to frisk both of them. However, he could not find the recorder on the panch.
She told him that he would have to give Rs 25,000 per month and a case would be filed. The complainant told her that he could not afford such a high sum as he had started the trade recently. He asked her to reduce it. After a compromise, she agreed to take Rs 10,000. As they stepped outside the PI’s cabin, Shirsat told him that he was poor and demanded Rs 2,000 for himself. The complainant assured Shirsat to hand over the money in a couple of days. Later, Shirsat started pestering him for Rs 12,000. He was then arrested while accepting the bribe.
The action was taken by DySP Maroti Pandit, PI NH Kshirsagar, policemen Rajendra Joshi, Prakash Ghugare, Changdev Bagul, Asha Kunte.
