Vishrantwadi police arrest four for stealing 4-kg jewellery worth Rs 85 lakh

Pune : NpNews24 OnlinePune Crime | Four persons, including a worker, who committed a theft at a goldsmith’s house have been arrested by the Vishrantwadi police. The accused stole jewellery weighing over 2 kg worth Rs 85 lakh, of this the police seized 1.406-kg jewellery from them.

 

The arrested have been identified as Mukesh Gogaram Chowdhary (22), Ramesh Ramlal Chowdhary (27), Bhagaram Gomaram Chowdhary (38) and Jetharam Krishnaji Chowdhary (38), all residents of Pali, Rajasthan. A juvenile delinquent has also been held. According to Senior PI Ajay Chandkhede, an offence was registered at the Vishrantwadi police station that gold jewellery weighing 2.081 kg worth Rs 85 lakh was stolen from the house of a goldsmith at Bhairav Nagar in Dhanori on January 10.

 

A special team was formed to investigate the case as per the instructions of senior officers. CCTV footage was examined by police personnel Deepak Chavan, Sandip Devkate and Shekhar Kharade. It was noticed that some suspects were making rounds of the complainant’s house.

 

It was learnt that a worker from the complainant’s shop had gone to his native in Rajasthan. After more investigation, it was found that worker Mukesh, along with his accomplices, committed the theft. The police arrested four persons and a minor from Rajasthan on the basis of technical analysis and inputs, which they examined for 13 days.

 

The action was taken under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Dr Ravindra Shisve, DCP Rohidas Pawar, Senior PI Ajay Chandkhede, PI Vijaykumar Shinde. A team comprising PSI Lahu Satpute, police personnel Vijay Sawant, Deepak Chavan, Yashwant Kirve, Sandip Devkate, Prafulla More, Shekhar Kharade, Yogesh Chandan, Shivaji Gopnar, Shyam Shinde and special police officer Raj Rathod took the action.
