Pune Anti Narcotics Cell seizes gutkha worth Rs 4 lakh

Pune : NpNews24 OnlinePune Crime | The Anti Narcotics Cell of the Pune police crime branch has seized gutkha worth Rs four lakh being transported through a tempo. The police have apprehended Sahadev Ramchandra Shinde and registered a case against him at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station under sections 328, 188, 272, 273 and sections 7(2) and 20(2) of the IPC and under sections 26 (2) of the Food Safety Standards Act. The officials and staff of the ANC were patrolling in the limits of the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. They saw that a tempo was suspiciously moving on the Katraj-Kondhwa Road opposite the Indian Oil petrol pump. The police stopped the tempo and arrested driver Sahdev Shinde (29), a resident of Lipane Vasti, Jambhulwadi Road, Pune.

 

When the police checked the tempo, they found gutkha and other tobacco products which have been banned by the government. They seized the goods worth Rs 4 lakh 4 thousand 800 and the tempo worth Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand, a mobile worth Rs 15,000, cash of Rs 2,000 totally worth Rs 6 lakh 74 thousand 800.

 

The action was taken by a team of officials including PI Vinayak Gaikwad, policemen Pandurang Pawar, Vishal Shinde, Vishal Dalvi, Sandesh Kakde, Rehna Shaikh, Nitesh Jadhav and Yogesh Mohite under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Jt CP Dr Ravindra Shisve, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Srinivas Ghadge and ACP Gajanan Tompe.
