Pune: 16-Year-Old Girl Molested in Gandhinagar, Yerawada: Accused Booked Under POCSO Act

Pune: A startling incident of molestation of a 16-year-old girl by constantly chasing her on her way from home to the academy and by repeatedly calling her on her mobile phone took place in the Gandhinagar area of Yerawada, Pune. In this regard, a victim girl’s mother filed a complaint against the accused at Yerawada police station on Thursday.

As per the information, the plaintiff girl studies in an academy in the Gandhinagar area, whereas the accused, Vijay Chandane, is a resident of the same area where the victim girl goes to her academy. The 22-year-old accused, Vijay Chandane, has been constantly keeping a watch on the victim girl and regularly harassing her by blocking her route on the pretext of talking to her.

He was constantly proposing her marriage, and when the girl refused his request, the accused threatened her to harm himself if she did not speak with him. Furthermore, the accused was also harassing the victim by repeatedly calling on her mobile phone and talking salaciously with her. This incident was going on from December 2023 until April 11, 2024.

It is complained that the accused attempted to molest a victim by attempting an obscene act with her with the intention of outraging her modesty. Fed up with this constant harassment, the victim told the entire incident to her mother, who subsequently rushed to Yerawada Police Station and lodged a complaint against the accused.

Taking note of the accused’s complaint, Yerawada Police registered a case against Vijay Chandane under IPC 354D and 506 and the POCSO Act. Yerawada Police are conducting further investigation into it.

In another shocking incident, a 37-year-old woman was molested by an unknown biker. As per the information, when the victim girl was walking on the road, one individual molested her near Tamhane Chowk Ground in Baner. Accordingly, the victim girl filed a complaint at the Chaturshringi police station. The police are conducting further investigations into it.
