Psychiatric patient runs away from Sassoon Hospital; Accused takes advantage of being left alone

PUNE :  NpNews24 Online  –   Pune Crime News | The police who had brought an accused arrested under the Arms Act took him to Sassoon Hospital for treatment. The police left him alone and went to meet the doctor to ask something. The accused took advantage of this and escaped. (Pune Crime News)

 

The accused has been identified as Balu alias Chakradhar Ranba Godse (30), a resident of Shrigonda taluka, Ahmednagar district. The incident took place on Saturday at 7.30 pm in ward number 26 of Sassoon Hospital.

 

Constable Prakash Mandge has lodged a complaint at the Bund Garden police station. According to the police, Balu Godse had been arrested by Shrigonda police for harbouring arms.

 

He was brought to Sassoon Hospital on April 19 for treatment. In ward number 26, he was being treated for psychiatric ailment. The police had been appointed for his security. The accused and policeman Sanjay Kotkar were on duty. The complainant had gone to ask the doctor when the accused was likely to be discharged. Kotkar went to the washroom.
Godse removed his hand from the handcuffs and ran away after taking advantage of the crowd. PSI Jadhav is probing the case.
