Prohibition on 15 years old vehicles; declaration on air pollution

Patna: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- Due to continuous climate changing, many cities of India are facing problems like floods, water shortage, earthquakes, carbon emissions, air pollution, experiencing any season at any time (example unconditional raining in summer) etc. In order to stop air pollution, the government of India should amend the Motor Vehicles Act and stop the operation of the 15-year-old vehicles and attempts should be made to promote the clean fuel, said Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi.

He was addressing the inauguration ceremony of a two-day national workshop on ‘Urban Climate Resilience: The Context of River Basin’, which was organized by the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority on Tuesday.

During the program, the Deputy Chief Minister released the Patna Manifesto on air pollution. Sushil Kumar Modi also said that there is need of thinking on the idea of how to reduce the impact of the flood in cities like Basirhat of West Bengal and Saharsa of Bihar.

At the same time, there is a big problem of water logging in the cities which are situated near to Ganga. There is a need for strict implementation of rainwater harvesting.

He further expressed that there is a need for promoting the construction of a seismic design building as most of Bihar’s cities falls under the earthquake zone-5.

In order to monitor air pollution in Patna, Deputy CM has instructed to install air monitoring machines at five places. In the five blocks around Patna, the old brick kilns have been given one year time to adopt new technology, with the ban on the opening of new brick kiln.
