Pimpri: 850-bed capacity Multi-speciality Government hospital to be set up in Chikhali

 

 

Pimpri: The largest 850-bed multispeciality government hospital in the city will be set up at Chikhali under the initiative of the municipal administration. This will reduce the stress on Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital. The proposal for a hospital in Chikhali was tabled at the municipal general meeting and was approved by a majority.

 

The district administration was following up on the initiative of MLA Mahesh Landage to get possession of about 20.22 hectares of land at group no.1653 in Chikhali. A spacious hospital will be set up in an area of about two hectares. The district administration has taken a positive decision in this regard. The approval given in the Municipal general meeting will speed up the construction of the hospital.

 

MLA Landge has proposed to start a government medical college with the aim of providing manpower and other staff to the proposed multispeciality hospital in Chikhali. It is also planned to provide facilities like Nursing, Dental, Physiotherapy, Ayurvedic courses in this college. Currently, the corporation has a YCM hospital. It has a capacity of 700 beds. The government has started a post-graduate medical course with the aim of providing manpower and reducing stress on the administration.

 

Patients from other districts including Pimpri-Chinchwad, Mulshi, Maval, Khed, Junnar, Ambegaon, Shirur talukas come to YCM hospital for treatment. The number of patients is relatively high in Khed, Junnar, Ambegaon, and Maval talukas. Therefore, it is imperative for YCM to set up an alternative medical system. The proposed multispeciality hospital in Chikhali will be the focal point for this and provide relief to the citizens as well as the administration.
