Pune: Man cheats a goldsmith of Rs 50 lakh by the trickery of turning soil into gold

Pune: A man cheated on goldsmith of Rs 50 lakh in Hadapsar by claiming that he has soil from Bengal that turns into gold. This incident occurred between 2021 to 2021.

A case has been registered against three persons including a man named Mukesh Chaudhary and his uncle. Vipul Nandlal Verma (39, resident of Maa building, Hadapsar village) has lodged a complaint at Hadapsar police station.

According to police, Verma owns a shop called Pawan Jewelers in Hadapsar village. While the accused Chaudhary is originally from Haryana and owns a dairy business. Chaudhary was introduced to the complainant on the occasion of buying a ring. This later led to a domestic relationship between them. The three suspects conspired gained the confidence of Verma. He also approached the father of the plaintiff claiming that he had soil brought from Bengal, which after heating turns into gold.

By trickery, the accused heated the soil and turned it into gold. After this, Chaudhary demanded money from the plaintiff’s family, saying he needed it for marriage in his family. And in return, the accused gave Verma 4 kg of soil brought from Bengal. The three accused took 48 ounces of different types of gold jewelry and Rs 30 lakh in cash from the plaintiff after handing over the soil.

Meanwhile, when the plaintiff tried to make gold by heating the soil, the soil did not turn into gold. The plaintiff lodged a complaint at the Hadapsar police station after realizing that he had been cheated. Sub-inspector Sourav Mane is conducting further investigation.
