Minister Nawab Malik arrested by ED in connection with Dawood Ibrahim money laundering case

Pune : NpNews24 Online NCP leader and minister Nawab Malik has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case. Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar has been grilled by ED officials for the last couple of days. Malik has been arrested after getting information from Kaskar.

A team of ED officials reached Nawab Malik’s residence at 5 am. Malik had told them that he would come to the ED office at 7 am. He reached the ED office at 7 am and was questioned till afternoon. Later, he was arrested. News agency ANI has tweeted that Malik has been arrested for links with Dawood Ibrahim money laundering case.

He was being questioned in a money laundering case. The BJP had alleged that Malik had purchased the land belonging to a 1993 bomb blast accused. Malik had held a press conference to clarify the issue.

NIA believes that Dawood Ibrahim is trying to create unrest in India and a case has been registered. Various security agencies are carrying out an investigation. Dawood’s brother Iqbal Kaskar carries out land transactions by using Dawood’s name and there is a suspicion that money laundering may have taken place. Kaskar had been questioned by ED and he has named Malik. Hence, Malik was questioned and was arrested later. This may again lead to political mudslinging in the state.

The NCP has alleged that since Malik has been making frequent attacks on the Modi government and BJP, he has been arrested to silence him.

Meanwhile, police bandobast has been increased outside the ED office and barricades have been put up to prevent many people from gathering there.
