IPL 2020 : Know why Yuvraj ‘thanked’ Rahul Tewatia

Dubai: The IPL 2020 has just started and ready new records are been made. The players are showing their best performances. One among them was Rahul Tewatia, who became an overnight star by smashing West Indian fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over. Many cricketers were impressed by his performance. Yuvraj Singh was also impressed while watching the match. He praised the 27 year old cricketer and asked him to keep it up with his brilliant game.

In a tweet, Yuvraj Singh said, “Mr @rahultewatia02 na bhai na thanks for missing one ball ! What a game congratulations to RR for a spectacular win !!! @mayankcricket great knock @IamSanjuSamson brilliant”!

In the first T20 World Cup played in South Africa 2007, Yuvraj Singh hit six sixes in all 6 balls of one over of Stuart Broad of England team. This is known as one of the historic feat in the cricket world. Thereafter, Rahul Tewatia has showed such a spectacular performance, raining five 6’s in a over all over the stadium.

Rahul on his performance said, ” his self-belief did not waver despite the “worst 20 balls” he ever played early in his roller-coaster knock. The aggressive effort of him helped Rajasthan Royals beat Kings XI Punjab in an incredible IPL match on Sunday night. Early on his his innings, he was struggling to put bat to ball.

“The dugout knows I can hit the ball long. I knew I had to believe in myself. It was a matter of one six,” the Tewatia said after the Royals’ four-wicket win. “Five (sixes) in the over, that is amazing. I tried to hit the leg-spinner, but unfortunately I couldn’t. So I had to hit other bowlers”, he added. He hit those big hits in the 18th over off Cottrell, four of them on the trot, to turn the match on its head after the Royals needed 51 runs from the last three overs.

The team of Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), who choose first to bat, scored 223/2, however lost. 51 runs were required in the last three overs. ‘Haryana Hurricane’ Tewatia was playing for 17 runs from 23 balls and from here he turned the match dice. Tewatia created a storm in the 18th over of Sheldon Cottrell’s innings. He changed the entire equation by putting 5 sixes (6,6,6,6,0,6).

RR  will next face the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 30.
