Mumbai Khiladis Unveil Dynamic Leadership Duo: Aniket Pote And Vice-Captain Mahesh Shinde For Ultimate Kho-Kho Season 2

NpNews24 Online  –  Mumbai Khiladis is looking to strike a perfect balance in its team by naming attacker Aniket Pote as the new skipper and defender Mahesh Shinde as a vice captain for the upcoming Ultimate Kho-Kho Season 2. Entrepreneur Punit Balan, the team’s owner, made the official announcement regarding it on Sunday, December 17. The eagerly awaited Ultimate Kho-Kho League Season 2 is scheduled to commence in Odisha from December 24, 2023, to January 14, 2023.

The 26-year-old all-rounder and local boy, Aniket Pote, boasts an impressive tally of eight gold and five silver medals to his credit. He recently bagged a gold medal at the Asian Championships earlier this year. Pote, known for his extensive skillset, is one of the most decorated players on the Kho-Kho circuit. His performance in Season 1 has rightfully earned him a coveted spot in the Ultimate Kho-Kho Dream Team. Known for his commitment and dedication on the mat, he will be a key player for the Mumbai Khiladis team, which has invested in a young and dynamic side this year.

Speaking about the selection process, team owner Punit Balan said, “naming Aniket as a skipper for season 2 is a strategic choice. His exceptional performance in the first edition and the way he displayed leadership qualities on the mat made him a natural choice for the role. Being a local boy, he also understands the spirit of Mumbai city, and we are confident that his experience will take the team forward and give us success in this highly competitive season.”

Newly appointed captain Aniket expressed his excitement about his new responsibility and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, saying, “It was an unexpected decision for me, but I am truly grateful for this opportunity. I will do my best to repay the faith of the management and take the players of the Mumbai Khiladis team to greater heights.”

Mumbai Khiladis named 27-year-old defender Mahesh Shinde as the team’s vice captain. Mahesh was one of the best defenders last season. He has 15.33 minutes in defence on his name last season.

Mumbai Khiladis has added 13 all-rounders to its squad in season 2. With the new addition of Sreejesh S, who was among the top five defenders in Season 1, the team looks strong and balanced in the upcoming edition. Sreejesh had defended for 17 minutes and 35 seconds on the mat in the last season.

Similarly, along with 16-year-old Sunil Patra, Mumbai has also included season-one winner all-rounder Subhasis Santra. The team is currently training at the Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium, KIIT Campus, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, under the supervision of Head Coach Vikas Suryavanshi and Assistant Coach Nitul Das.
