Increase in prices of Ganesh idols

Maharashtra’s dearest god is just a few days away from his arrival and people seems very enthusiastic about it. People have already started preparing for it. But now people have to pay more for bringing happiness (Idols) to their home.

The prices of Ganesh idols made from ‘Shadu’ clay and eco-friendly paper have increased by more than 500 to 1000 rupees, Due to an increase in prices of raw material and rate of workers. Therefore, it will directly affect to devotees and they have to pay more for purchasing idols this year.

Citizens already suffering from the problem of high inflation everywhere, now they also have to face it while celebrating the festivals. The people who have a strong economic background, they can easily purchase it, but what about those people, who are not economically stable…They have spent more money on celebrating such a festival also.

Though the Ganesh idols have been excluded from GST this year, the price of clay bags has increased by 25 to 30 rupees. The cost of Katha (Ganesh idol making material) increased from Rs 900 to Rs 1,400 this year. The rate of artisan, who make Ganesh idol has increased by Rs 500 to Rs 600. Due to lack of artisans to make Ganesh idols, the demand for 500 to 600 rupees is being made by artisans. Ganesh idols have become expensive due to the increase in the rate of color, brush, artisan’s rate and katha (idol making material).

Ganesh Idol’s decorative diamond becomes more expensive. So, idol’s rate has been an increase by Rs 100 from last year. So, it resulted in an increase in the rate of Ganesh idols. It requires around 2500 rupees, for making idol from paper pulses, that’s why the rate of eco-friendly idols are high than others.

Usually, people do not go for Ganesh idols which are made from Shadu. As they have to pay more for it. The prices of the idols, which are made of from POP (Plaster of Paris) has not increased.
