Important projects in city should be speeded up, says BJP MLA Siddharth Shirole

MUMBAI : NpNews24 Online  –  Pune Shivaji Nagar MLA Siddharth Shirole | Shivaji Nagar MLA Siddharth Shirole while speaking on the motion moved by the ruling party in the budget session of the assembly, said that the Shinde-Fadnavis government is working hard to provide basic amenities in fast growing Pune.

Pune is famous as an education hub and Oxford of the East. In last few years, the city has become an IT and industrial hub. Hence, the population is rapidly increasing in Pune and the government is facing a challenge of providing basic amenities in Pune. “Considering these factors, since 2014, many projects have being implemented in Pune under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and former CM Devendra Fadnavis. Among them, Pune Metro, Smart city, river restoration and development, ring road, 24×7 water supply scheme are important. All these projects are in the fast lane under the guidance of CM Shinde and Deputy CM Fadnavis.

A stretch of Pune Metro was inaugurated and the Vanaz to Garware College route is operational. Although the Pune Metro work is going on at a fast pace, the residents are forced to deal with traffic jams. Shirole also said that the work of the flyover at the University Chowk which is located on the Hinjewadi to Shivaji Nagar route, should be completed by using the latest technology within a year. In 2018, under the leadership of then CM Devendra Fadnavis, it was decided to purchase electric AC buses for PMPML and now, the buses are operational in the city and I am proud of it as a Punekar. More funds are required from the government to strengthen PMPML and the government should allocate funds, he said.

“During the budget session in 2022, I had raised the problems posed by hyacinth in the rivers in Pune through a calling attention motion. Biological method was used to remove hyacinth in Ulhas river in Thane district. I had asked whether a similar exercise can be undertaken in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. The CM had issued orders to remove hyacinth but the situation remains the same. The hyacinth should be removed as early as possible to reduce the problems of the local people,” he said.

“The condition of the PMC Colony and the Police Line is very bad and the government should provide funds to rebuild them. The work of developing PMRDA had been given to the Singapore government and it has prepared an impressive plan. If the work is started according to the plan, it will boost Pune’s development. Till then, PMC should be appointed as a special planning authority which will help in the starting of the development process in 34 villages,” he added.
