Pune : IAS Dr Anil Ramod Suspended | Pune Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Dr Anil Ramod, who was remanded in judicial custody in a bribery case, was finally suspended on Wednesday night. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had arrested him while accepting a Rs 8-lakh bribe to increase the compensation in a land acquisition matter.
Earlier, Dr Ramod was remanded in police custody. Meanwhile, he applied for bail; however, it was rejected. The CBI expressed the possibility that Dr Ramod would interfere in the evidence or make changes to documentary proof. His rejoining the duty would adversely affect the case. Hence, he needed to be suspended. The Divisional Commissioner sent a proposal to the General Administration Department in this regard. It has been approved and Dr Ramod has been suspended.
The government issued this order as Dr Ramod has been in custody for more than 48 hours. He is not supposed to leave the headquarters after the suspension. He is also not supposed to do any private job or business. He cannot leave the city without the permission of the Divisional Commissioner.
