Pune PMC Water Supply Kharadi | New water supply plan in Kharadi fails
Pune : Pune PMC Water Supply Kharadi | The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) alternate-day water supply plan in Kharadi has failed. Hence, the area will have water supply closure on Thursdays like other city areas.
Expecting a delay in the monsoon, the civic body implemented once-a-week water closure in the city from May 18. However, many city areas have been complaining about low pressure water supply for the next 2-3 days after the day of closure.
Some areas in Kharadi ward no. 4 had reported the same problem. Hence, the alternate-day water supply was implemented in Kharadi. However, instead of addressing the issue, it got aggravated. The civic administration invited the ire of local residents. Therefore, the plan has been withdrawn now. Now, it will have water closure on Thursdays like other city areas. This was revealed by PMC Water Supply Department Head Aniruddha Pawaskar.
Wadgaon Sheri, Viman Nagar to receive water today
The leakage in the Bhama-Askhed dam water pipeline has adversely affected water supply to areas in the east of the city. Therefore, the areas served by the pipeline, including Wadgaon Sheri and Viman Nagar, will get water today, being Thursday (June 22).
There have been many lacunas in the Bhama-Askhed water pipeline plan. Residents are getting muddy water, which has raised health issues. Moreover, the supply is not done with enough pressure.
Plugging the leakages in the Bhama-Askhed pipeline is taking too much time. This, in turn, is stopping the supply to these areas. Water supply was suspended last Thursday. Hence, residents in these areas received water with low pressure the next day (last Friday). People suffered a lot due to this. Former Deputy Mayor Dr Siddharth Dhende, along with many citizens, asked the civic administration not to shut supply today (Thursday, June 22). So, Wadgaon Sheri, Lohegaon and Viman Nagar will get water today, said Pawaskar.
