Farmer commits suicide; drowns in Bhama Askhed Dam

The government has been implementing various rules for the betterment of farmers. But, it seems still it has not enhanced their present scenario.

The financial condition of Indian farmers is well known to the citizens wherein, suicides have become a trend in the country. Debt, loans, depression, and suicides have become a cycle in a farmer’s life. In a bizzare incident, another farmer committed suicide by drowning in a dam.

The incident took place in Bhama Askhed Dam which is an earth-fill dam on Bhama River near Khed, Pune district around 9 o’ clock on Saturday morning.

According to the information, the farmer committed suicide in Pune based Roundhalwadi area of Khed Parisar’s Bhama Aaskhed Dam. The name of the deceased is Shantaram Gunjaal. Police rushed to the spot immediately.

According to sources, the Shantaram Gunjal was fond of Dams and such areas. After receiving no financial support from the administration, he was in depression. And, finding no other option left ultimately, he decided to commit suicide.

Police received the information early in the morning. Police are still trying to investigate more on the deceased farmer. Police are still probing into the case.

The exact reason for the suicide is still not determined. Possibly could be dept., loan issues, etc. When will the never-ending trend of farmers committing suicide will be gone forever? Such a question is still left unanswered.

The government had implemented a rule in mid-2017 to release the farmers from all the loans and debts from banks and resolve their problems. Even after such decision, the scenario seems to be the same. As farmers still have been committing suicides through the year.

The farmers can still hope for a better financial support provided by the government in future if the government can really affect the condition of farmers in a positive way.
