ED may book Nirav Modi wife in PNB case

The Environment Directorate (ED) probing the Nirav Modi PNB money laundering case plan to book his wife Ami.

It’s the first time Nirav Modi wife Ami name has come ahead in the investigation.

ED investigation reveals that out of Rs 6,400 crores that the fugitive diamantaire defrauded PNB was allegedly used 30 million dollars which is around Rs 220 crores to purchase two flats in the US for his wife. As the investigation team of ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which is probing the case in their charge sheet didn’t mention her name.

The investigation further mentioned that the flats were purchased in then and if Ithaca trust in which Ami is a beneficiary.

The investigation had further revealed that Nirav controlled Firestar group diverted 25 million dollars into the account of a shell company associated with the couple in the Central Park Real Estate, which purchased one of the two flats. The firm in 2018 transferred the flat in the name of Ithaca Trust.

Nirav had transferred a part of the remaining dollar five million into the account of shell companies associated with his sister Purvi Modi. Purvi then had transferred a part of the remaining five million dollars into the account of shell companies associated with his sister and out if it around 4.99 million dollars were later transferred by her in Ithaca Trust’s account through multiple of transactions involving shell firms abroad. Such amount of trust was later utilized for purchasing flats in Ami names.
