Conduct running test for police recruitment from 4 am to 10 am, says Ajit Pawar

MUMBAI : NpNews24 Online  – Maharashtra Police Recruitment 2023 | The Leader of the Opposition, Ajit Pawar, made suggestions for overhauling the process of conducting recruitment tests for police constables. He said that the government should make arrangements for candidates’ food and accommodation and provide them access to toilets. He said special care should be taken of female candidates. Many cases have been reported where some candidates faced problems while taking part in the running test and they have died. The tests should be conducted from 4 am to 10 am, he suggested. Pawar spoke about the issue through a point of information in Vidhan Sabha, Pawar said the police recruitment process is going on in Mumbai and other cities. Many youths are reporting at the recruitment centres. Since the candidates are facing problems of food and accommodation, these problems should be solved, he said.

“Engineers, doctors and youths holding MBA and MSc degrees are applying for police constables’ jobs. Since they are not getting jobs despite being highly educated, they are applying for police constables’ jobs. It is our responsibility to take care of them. During a recruitment drive held at Kalina campus of Mumbai University, 17-year-old Ganesh Ugle felt dizzy after running for 1.600 metres and he collapsed on the ground. He was admitted to a hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. Another youth, Amar Ashok Solanke suffered a heart attack in the hotel where he was staying and he passed away. We should take steps to prevent such incidents,” he said.

He requested the state government that the candidates’ accommodation arrangements should be made in an auditorium or in an enclosed space. “They should be provided with toilet facilities. Special arrangements should be made for women. Medical facilities should be provided. The running test which is conducted in the afternoon, should be conducted early in the morning. This will ensure that all candidates, irrespective of whether they are selected or not, would have a positive impression of the state government,” he added.
