The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday dismissed the allegations of the data breach of NEET candidates in 2018.

This statement was released following the claims by Congress President Rahul Gandhi that was raised on CBSE.

In a letter addressing the director of CBSE, Gandhi mentioned that the data of around 2 lakh NEET aspirant candidates is available online for a specific amount. But CBSE came back strongly against these claims in a press release.

The release also bashed the allegations by calling it, ‘handiwork of certain unscrupulous persons with the objective of duping the gullible public’.

The press release by CBSE also clarifies these points –

The data of around 13,26,725 candidates of NEET-UG is available only in encrypted format. They are also secured with the National Informatics Centre (NIC). Even all the documented information like identifications, mobile numbers, email ids are also in encrypted format.

National Informatics Centre (NIC) looks over many government data. And whenever the CBSE uses the data submitted to NIC for the purpose of Roll Number allotment it only uses identification documents. And not any personal details.

Even while declaring the results of NEET, their personal details are not revealed. In case the CBSE needs to communicate with a candidate, he/she is mailed of sending an SMS with the candidate’s registration number.

It is only after the declaration of results that the data of all the candidates are shared for the purpose of counseling to the Directorate General Health Service, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India for providing the same to the states as per the jurisdiction. The data is highly secured and password protected while sharing.

The CBSE has requested NIC to look into the matter, NIC is the data center of examinee information.
