Axar Patel out of first Test against England; Shahbaz Nadeem, Rahul Chahar added to squad

Mumbai : India all-rounder Axar Patel has been ruled out of the first Test of the four-match series against England. Axar Patel complained of knee pain during the team’s optional training on Thursday. He is being monitored by the BCCI Medical Team.

According to the BCCI reports, Axar Patel is replaced by Shahbaz Nadeem and Rahul Chahar. It was believed that Axar Patel would make his Test debut in the first Test match of the series to be played in Chennai.

During Team India’s optional training session, Axar complained of knee pain in left leg. In Chennai, Team India can take off with three spinners, so Washington Sundar, R Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav seems almost certain. Ravindra Jadeja is already unavailable for the first two Tests due to injury, so the team management’s tension has increased due to Axar’s injury.

Washington Sundar recently made his Test debut on Australia tour and was also impressed with his bowling and batting. In such a situation, his inclusion in the playing eleven is now considered almost certain.
