15th December is the day to raise awareness about the global tea trade’s effect on the growers and workers. The day is also associated with requests for fair trade and price support. International Tea Day is celebrated in countries such as India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Nepal.

Tea is packed with many essential antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that is known to stave off the risk of common cold, cough, fever.

Here is a list of teas worth trying

Tandoori chai
Known to be one of the most trending tea. The quirky style of preparation, wherein, an empty kulhad or clay pot is preheated in a tandoor and then half cooked tea is poured in it. The heat from the hot cup helps in brewing it further and lends an earthy flavour to it.

Pink tea
Among the other authentic Kashmiri delights, this pretty pink tea with sea salt and warm nuts really stands out. It has a buttery texture and spicy-nutty flavour that leave you with a warm, fuzzy feeling. The Noon Shai or Sheer Chai or Gulabi Chai is made with a special type of tea grown in Kashmir.

Kashmiri Khawa
Kashmiris, famous for plating out rich delicacies like rista and gushtaba, also offer another interesting version of tea – Kahwa. Available in quite a few restaurants across the city, this Kashmiri take on green tea is flavoured with cinnamon, cardamom, almonds, saffron and rose petals and is known to keep the cold at bay during winters.

Butter Tea
Tibetans most famous tea, much like bulletproof coffee, this tea uses a generous dollop of butter in its brew. Boiled with special leaves from Tibet, milk and salt and then topped with butter, this concoction makes for a perfect winter beverage.

Blue tea
Made from butterfly pea flowers the tea not only tastes amazing, it has a distinct floral aroma that gives it an earth and woody flavour, similar to green tea.

Herbal tea
These days you get different types of infused and herbal tea made by including rooibos, chamomile, jasmine or mint. These teas are usually consumed for its medicinal properties and calming effect.
