Principal who molested female student, committed suicide

In this incident, a Pune based school teacher who was alleged of sexually harassing class 9 students, committed suicide. Reportedly, he took this extreme step after some social activists of the nearby area had come to enquire him. And, later he jumped into a water canal, drowning to death.

The name of the deceased teacher is Ashok Kavre. Ashok’s wife filed a complaint in this case after which police arrested Navnath Parage, Pooja Parage, Rohini Kumbar, Balasaheb Parage and Suvarna Chavan in this case. They have been charged in this case of provoking the deceased for suicide as per the Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 309 according to which anyone who commits suicide or provokes it is liable to punishment.

Ashok was a principal of Donje situated Vidhya Niketan Madhyamik Vidyalaya. Earlier, he had allegedly punished some students including both boys and girls of the school. After which, he got involved in a fight and after this Ashok was mentally distressed.

According to the local residents of the area, the principal at times used to beat students of class 9. Not just that, but he also used to touch the female students inappropriately.

This act of principal came up to the surface when some victim girls of the school complained about this to social activists of the area alleging the principal. As a result of this, some women workers complained about this to school authorities due to which Ashok committed suicide.

This case is still being probed under the guidance of Sardar Patil, senior police inspector of Sinhagad Road Police station, along with Assistant police inspector, Jyoti Gadkari.
