19 killed in Maharashtra during Ganesh Visarjan

Np News 24 Pune: The State with festive fervour bid adieu to Ganpati Bappa on Thursday after 10 days of celebrations of Ganesh festival.  During the peaceful immersion of Lord Ganesh throughout the State, many devotees drown during the immersion.

In the State, including Mumbai and Konkan, 19 devotees have died, spreading mourning all over.

Four people drown in Amravati during the immersion. One person was drowning during the immersion process. Three youths jumped to save him. And they also drown while trying to save him.

Three youths drown in Ratnagiri district in two separate incidents.  Two youths drown in Ahmednagar, while two drown in Tarkarli.  Wardha, Bhandara, Karad, Thane, Nanded, Washim saw death of one devotee each during the visarjan procession. All of them drown.  Two people died in Nagpur while immersion of the Ganesh idol.  A total of 19 people died in the State.
