World’s biggest vaccination campaign to begin today, 3 lakh people to be vaccinated on first day

New Delhi : Taking a decisive step in the fight against the Coronavirus, which has been going on for almost a year, India will begin its biggest vaccination campaign on Saturday. Three lakh health workers of the country will be vaccinated on the first day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the vaccination by addressing the Chief Ministers and Health Ministers of all the States and Union Territories through video conferencing at 10:30 am. He will launch the Covin website and app. However, common people will be able to register themselves on the Covin app from March for vaccination.

A simultaneous vaccination campaign will be started across the country and a total of 3006 vaccination centers have been set up in all states and union territories. Sudhir Bhandari, Principal of Sawai Man Singh Medical College, Jaipur, Rajasthan, will be given the first vaccine dose, while the security guard of a hospital in Madhya Pradesh and others including an assistant will be among the first to take the vaccine.

PM Modi can also share vaccination experiences with the first 100 health workers during this period. According to the Ministry of Health, a person must take two doses of the same vaccine. However, the second dose will have to be taken 28 days later. Covishield and Covaxin vaccines have been supplied to all states of the country. Under the first phase, 1.65 crore doses have been sent. Vaccination will be done four days a week across the country on Mon, Tue, Thursday and Saturday. According to this, 12 lakh people will get the vaccine in a week.
