Pune Crime | Two moneylenders held for demanding Rs 10-lakh ransom by issuing death threats

Pune : NpNews24 Online  – Pune Crime | The Anti-Extortion Squad of Pune police have arrested two moneylenders for demanding Rs 10 lakh more from a person, who had repaid his loan with interest. They also beat him and threatened to kill the victim. (Pune Crime)

 

The arrested have been identified as Rahul Balkrushna Kondhare (42), a resident of Ambegaon Budruk, and Vijay Ganpat Kumbharkar (38), a resident of Dhayari Phata. A 33-year-old citizen lodged a complaint with the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police in this regard. The incident took place between June 1, 2019 and August 23, 2022.

 

According to the police, the complainant had borrowed Rs 2 lakh from Rahul Kondhare at an interest rate of 10 percent per month. He also took Rs 3 lakh from Vijay Kumbharkar at an interest rate of 8 percent per month. The complainant repaid Kondhare Rs 4.80 lakh and the principal amount of Rs 2 lakh while he repaid Kumbharkar Rs 5 lakh in an instalment of Rs 40,000 per month. He also gave Kumbharkar steel material worth Rs 1.57 lakh instead of cash and repaid Rs 3 lakh principal amount. In spite of this, both demanded Rs 5 lakh each from him. When he refused to oblige, they went to his home, abused and thrashed him and threatened to kill him. Then the complainant approached the Crime Branch of Pune police and lodged the complaint. The police have arrested the duo. PSI Jadhav is investigating the matter.

PI Balaji Pandhare, API Changdev Sajgane, PSI Jadhav, police personnel Vijay Gurav, Shailesh Surve, Pradip Shitole, Vinod Salunke, Rahul Uttarkar, Saidaba Bhojrao, Sangaram Shingare, Amol Pilane, Pradip Gade, Chetan Shirolkar, Kishor Barge, Ravi Sankpal, Rupali Karnavar, and Asha Kolekar participated in the action.
