Uttarakhand: Tourists exempted from Covid-19 test and quarantine period

Dehradun: Tourists will now be able to come to Uttarakhand for a long stay without bothering about getting a Covid-19 test done. Tourists have also been exempted from furnishing a 96-hour Covid-19 negative report at the border. At the same time, the mandatory condition of two night stay in the hotel for tourists has also been removed.

The orders were issued on Tuesday (September 22) by Chief Secretary Om Prakash. After the new guidelines issued by the government, tourists will now be able to come to the state without any hesitation. Tourists will not be quarantined when they come to the state. This is likely to increase tourist activities in the state.

The state government had ended the system of checking at the border for people coming to the state only two days ago. Tourists were required to show a negative report of Coronavirus infection at the border or to undergo a mandatory Covid-19 test at the border itself. Government had made it mandatory for tourists to stay at the hotel for at least two nights. But now the government has removed all these restrictions and allowed free movement of tourists in and out of the state.

Now tourists have to register on the smart city portal before arrival. On arrival at the hotel, they won’t have to show the negative report of Covid-19 during check in. The hotel management will arrange for thermal screening and sanitisation. If a tourist’s health deteriorates during his stay in the hotel, his Covid-19 test will be done and if the report is positive, the hotel administration will have to inform the local administration.
