Three dead, two injured in road accident on Mumbai-Agra National highway

Kalyan : Three persons died and two were critically injured in a road accident on the Mumbai-Agra National Highway at Kokangaon Shani Mandir area on the road from Nashik to Pimpalgaon at 2 pm on Thursday (March 18), the police said.

The deceased have been identified as Mayuri Chaure (18), her mother Vaishali (41) and brother Sagar (22), all reisdents of Kalyan. Mayuri’s father Pandit Chaure (47), and driver Sanjay Bagul (42) were critically injured in the accident and are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

According to the police, the Chaura family, who lived in Balaji Arcade Society in Vijaynagar, Amrai area, east of Kalyan, were driving to Jalgaon for the wedding. The car was hit by a bus from behind, killing Mayuri on spot while Vaishali, who was critically injured and was undergoing treatment at the hospital, died late on Thursday night and Sagar died on Friday morning. The incident has been registered at Pimpalgaon police station.

Pandit Chaure, who was injured in the accident, is working in the Mumbai Police. Mayuri was studying in class XII at Pendharkar College in Dombivali, while Sagar was working as an engineer in a private company in Kalwa.
