TET Exam Scam | 7,800 disqualified candidates in MahaTET 2019-20 declared ‘qualified’: CP Amitabh Gupta

Pune : NpNews24 Online TET Exam Scam |  In a shocking revelation, 7,800 candidates who had failed were later declared as ‘qualified’ by taking money in the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (MahaTET) 2019-20. This was found during the investigation conducted by the Pune cyber police.

Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta revealed this in a press conference on Friday. Many irregularities have been detected in the MahaTETs 2019-20. The cyber police cross-checked the original results received from the Maharashtra State Council of Examination and the actual results published. The scamsters took Rs 50,000-Rs 60,000 from candidates and declared them as qualified, though they had actually not qualified.

In all, 16,592 candidates were declared as qualified in the MahaTET 2019-20. However, it was revealed during the investigation that 7,800 candidates among these were, in reality, disqualified. Their marks were increased through manipulation by the accused, Tukaram Supe, Abhishek Savrikar and Pritish Deshmukh, along with other accused.

During the investigation, the Pune cyber police undertook technical analysis of data related to 16,705 candidates, who were declared qualified in the final result. The police also carried out technical analysis of data (digital proof) found with the accused. They also checked the OMR sheets of the candidates. It was revealed that 7,880 candidates, who had failed in the MahaTET 2019-20, were declared ‘qualified’ by increasing their score in the final results. The number of such candidates is likely to increase, said CP Gupta.

The Pune cyber police had filed an offence against the accused under sections 406, 409, 420, 465, 467, 468, 34 of the IPC and section 66 (d) of the IT Act, etc.

The investigation in the case is being carried out under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Dr Ravindra Shisve, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Bhagyashree Navatake, ACP Vijaykumar Palsule and Senior PI DS Hake. PI Kumar Ghadge, PIs Koli and Khedekar and police personnel Sachin Vaze and Ravindra Salavi are investigating.
