PIMPRI: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- A 65-year-old woman’s life was saved by a team of doctors from Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital who operated a 1.5 kg heavy clot inside the breast of woman.

Solapur’s 65 year old Archana (changed name) was admitted in Aditya Birla Hospital’s OPD after she complained of an increase in size of a clot in her right breast all of a sudden and immediately after which she contacted the hospital.

Dr. Deepali Gonjari examined her and suggested her to immediately opt for an Ultrasound test. After the tests, it was revealed that she was suffering from a disease related to Vascular Pathology- blood vessels and took immediate decision of conducting a CT Angiography test.

Dr. Deepali Gonjari, advisor breast Onco surgeon of Aditya Birla Hospital said, “After CT Angio, a Hemorrhagic cyst (when bleeding occurs inside system) along with a branch of internal memory supply wall of Legion was detected. Since the size of the clot was very huge, it was 18x10x10 cm, the case was very complicated and critical because the woman had Dextrocardia( had heart on right side of chest’s wall) and was on medicines as she was suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure and other heart diseases”.

Under the guidance of Dr. Deepali Gonjari, breast Onco surgeon, Dr. Samith Chahut’s team of surgeons did the surgery where the clot had to be removed completely. The clot was bigger and heavier than 1.5 kg and was to be completely removed. The branches of Internal memory artery were identified and was secured. There was a probability of the clot to burst and could have affected the nearby areas of the heart which would have proved dangerous for her health. Immediate surgery helped in saving her life.
