Barshi sessions court grants bail to self-styled godman Manohar Mama

Barshi : NpNews24 Online – Solapur News | Manohar alias Mama Bhosale who was arrested in a sexual assault case was granted bail by the Barshi sessions court. Bhosale was booked in a financial fraud case in Baramati and the sexual assault case in Karmala. He was arrested in September 2021.

Currently, Bhosale is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Akluj. The police filed a charge sheet against him recently. Hence, he filed a bail application. He has been granted bail on certain conditions after 132 days after furnishing a security bond of Rs 25,000. He is prohibited to enter Satara district, where the victim lives.

The Admapur temple trust, Kolhapur and Undargaon villagers launched a campaign against Manohar Bhosale as he came to be known as a devotee of famous spiritual leader Balu Mama. His problems compounded after that. Voices were raised demanding closure of the ‘illegal ashram’ at Undergaon. Two cases were lodged against Bhosale at the Karmala police station.

Politicians, business persons, traders and entrepreneurs used to visit Manohar Mama’s ashram at Undargaon on every new moon day. Hundreds of vehicles used to be parked in fields around the ashram. Fees was being charged to devotees visiting the ashram. It was claimed that Manohar Mama was performing miracles. Thousands of people used to rush to the ashram.

Villagers of Undargaon who prospered due to the backwater of Ujani dam started feeling hassled due to this. Manohar Mama’s cousin Dhananjay Kamble took the lead and raised his voice against this. Villagers joined him. The Admapur temple trust and the villagers opened a front against Manohar Bhosale. This caused problems for him. He clarified that he was not a descendant or disciple of Balu Mama but was merely a devotee.

Later, a woman filed a cheating complaint in the land purchased for his ashram at the Karmala police station. Then Ravindra Mhetre from Baramati filed another cheating complaint stating that Manohar Mama took money promising cure for his ailing wife. However, she was not cured. Earlier, Manohar Mama had lodged an extortion and atrocity offence against Mhetre.

Later, it was learnt that Manohar Mama did not have the consent of the Undargaon Gram Panchayat for building his ashram. Now, villagers led by his cousin Dhananjay Kamble have opposed his ashram saying it was a nuisance for villagers. Currently, the ashram is closed due to the pandemic. Manohar Mama is also not staying there.

The dispute has now reached the police and the court.
