Reputed as Accident Way – Expressway Witnesses One More Accident

The Mumbai-Pune Expressway, always remains top in the news due to traffic violations, congestion, and accidents, has witnessed a terrific accident on the morning of August 27.

According to the sources, a trailer carrying heavy materials, was dashed by a Cruiser jeep from behind. The Cruiser jeep was travelling from expressway where near at Khalapur, this accident took place.

As per the information received, a CG04LM9811 numbered trailer was dashed from behind by a Cruiser jeep MH06B1241 on August 27. This incident took place around 8.30 in the morning. The trailer is being said to be the cause of this accident as it was on wrong lane.

Expressway is the heart-beat of the transportation from where thousands of people travel every day. Cruiser jeep being a passenger vehicle, it was full of travellers. The car was totally damaged and three people seriously injured in this accident.

Three of them have been admitted to MGM Hospital in Kalamboli near Panvel. Few others have also got injured who have been shifted further for treatment.

All these injured passengers were brought to MGM Hospital in an Expressway Ambulance. The names and the details of the passengers who were injured are still to investigate, the details about who was at fault can be revealed only after the police receives a statement from the hospital. The case is being investigated and hospital staff is trying to save the lives of the injured. Primary information says that the trailer which was on wrong lane caused the accident.

Mumbai-Pune Expressway, the first expressway of the country, has gained a reputation for accidents and traffic violations. Now Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), a state-owned company, has planned a second, 700km-long expressway between Mumbai and Nagpur, which has been known as ‘Samruddhi Mahamarg’ (Prosperity Corridor).

The express way which ever and anon witnesses such accidents, will soon get “Intelligent Traffic Management System’ (ITMS) that is expected to help the authorities in managing the traffic, curb traffic violations and reduce accidents and fatalities.

ITMS has features such as CCTV network, speed guns, LED displays to give advance information to traffic on the highway, access control system, effective accident response system, automated toll collection and other facilities including an effective system for managing accidents. The highway will also have systems for weighing the vehicles in motion, to ensure a curb on overloading.
