R Ashwin and Rohit Sharma ruled out of 2nd test due to injury

AUSTRALIA: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE –  Just when India thought that they might dominate the series as they have won the first match of the series a sad news has come from the dressing room of India which says they R Ashwin the bowler with most number of wickets in 1st test match has been ruled out of the 2nd match due to the injury. This was a big blow for India as this is the third player from India which got injured.

Earlier, India’s latest batting sensation Prithvi Shaw was injured while fielding in a practice match where he twisted his ankle.

This is even big blow for Rohit Sharma as he didn’t perform up to the mark in the first test at Adelaide. He was picked above Hanuma Vihari as even after scoring fifty in the last match.

India included Hanuma Vihari, Ravindra Jadeja, Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in a 13-man squad announced on eve of the second Test.

This is what the BCCI statement reads

“Prithvi Shaw is recovering well from his left ankle injury but still undergoing treatment. R Ashwin has a left-sided abdominal strain. He is receiving treatment at the moment. Rohit Sharma jarred his lower back while fielding in the 1st Test at Adelaide. He is undergoing treatment. He too is ruled out of the second Test. The team management is closely monitoring these players and a call on their availability for the third Test will be taken at an appropriate time.”

Indian team was expected to dominate the test series as this Australian team was not that tough to beat and Indian batting as well as bowling team was on song. But this big blow has pushed India on backfoot.

With the given 13 players list Rohit Sharma might be replaced with Hanuma Vihari and R Ashwin will be replaced with Jadeja or India might go with 4 pacers

India’s 13-man squad: Virat Kohli (captain), M Vijay, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav.
