Pune: Yerawada Police Nab Man for Assaulting On-Duty Constable and Obstructing Police Duties

Pune: While taking an accused person to the police station for arguing in a public place, the accused purportedly assaulted an on-duty police constable and also stripped his uniform. In this regard, Yerawada police apprehended a young man for creating a hindrance to government work. The incident took place on Saturday night, April 13, between 8 p.m. and 8.15 p.m. between Golf Club and Don Bosco School.

As per the information, the police constable, Vijay Mane, was on day-shift duty and was assigned to patrol the Jail Road area. During his patrol, Mane learned about an argument between two people at the golf club area. Accordingly, Mane promptly reached the location to ease the tension between two people who were identified as Umesh Tatkare and Akshay Badgujar.

Taking action on them, constable Mane was taking the accused, Akshay Badgujar and Umesh Tatkare, to the police station on his bike. At that time, the accused, Akshay Badgujar, hit a hard substance on Mane’s head near the Don Bosco School area. As a result, all three fell off the bike. After that, Akshay Badgujar beat up Police Constable Mane and created obstruction in government work by tearing off the uniform of Mane.

In this regard, constable Mane filed a complaint at the Yerwada police station. Accordingly, a complaint has been registered against Akshay Badgujar under IPC 353, 332, and 337. Yerawada Police are conducting further investigation into the case.
