Pune: Two Nurses Suspended at Aundh Civil Hospital Over Blood Transfusion Errors

Pune: Following the administration of incorrect blood groups to two patients on Saturday, two nurses at Aundh Civil Hospital have been suspended with immediate effect. An inquiry meeting into the matter revealed that the errors occurred due to distractions, possibly caused by engaging in conversations over mobile phones.

The incident has sparked concerns about patient safety within the hospital. The nurses involved in the oversight have been identified as Priti Thokal and Shanta Maklur.

Civil Surgeon Nagnath Yempelle stated, “Both nurses have been suspended immediately. Their actions led to a significant error and jeopardized the lives of both patients. Consequently, we had to transfer the patients to the intensive care unit (ICU). Thankfully, both patients are now recovering well.”
