Pune: The residents of Pune and its surrounding areas are living in fear as incidents of burglary continue to escalate. In a brazen daytime robbery, perpetrators first broke into a closed house in the Wanwadi area. The theft, occurring on Sunday between 3:30 PM and 6:15 PM at Azadnagar, saw valuables worth a staggering 28,70,000 rupees pilfered from the house.

Tara Deepak Rai (64), a resident of Azadnagar, Wanwadi, filed a complaint at the Wanwadi police station on Monday, prompting authorities to register a case under IPC sections 380 and 454 against the unidentified thief.

According to the police report, Rai and her husband had locked their home before attending a prayer session at the Nepali Church on B. T. Kawde Road. In their absence, the perpetrators forcibly entered the premises by breaking the lock and ransacking the residence.

The burglars targeted an iron cupboard and safe concealed within the bed, absconding with cash, gold, and silver jewellery. Rai returned home later in the evening, only to discover the devastating aftermath of the burglary. Police officials swiftly initiated an investigation into the matter, though the perpetrators remain at large, prompting continued vigilance within the community.
