Pune: Pune Rural Police News | The Maoists problem is not only limited to Maharashtra, but they have challenged law and order in the state of Telangana, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and. Jharkhand. The government started various schemes for the benefits of locals there considering the social and economic problem. The police have conveyed various schemes of the government to locals. Ankit Goyal, a superintendent of Pune Rural police force in an event organised by the Pune Shramik Patrakar Sangh expressed the opinion that it will be possible to win the ongoing battle with the Maoists with the support and trust of the locals.

 

The Pune Shramik Patrakar Sangh organised a lecture on the topic of ‘Present Status of Maoist Movement in Maharashtra, Challenges, Policing’. On this occasion, President of Journalists Association Swapnil Bapat, General Secretary Pandurang Sarode etc. were present.

 

Landless people started a movement in Naxalbari village of West Bengal. This agitation started against the landlords turned into a Naxalist movement. In the last 50 years, the Naxalite movement took root in the states of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Telangana, Maharashtra. Influenced by the Maoist ideology, the Maoists took the course of the movement on a violent path. Goyal mentioned that he gained sympathy by taking up the problems of the locals in the beginning.

 

Goyal said, “Maoists started their headquarters in Abujamad area of Telangana. During the period of 1970 to 1980, the Maoists established a bastion in Gadchiroli area. As Tendupatta and bamboo prices were not available, the protest was started. The locals supported him. The Maoists dragged him into the movement. Weapons were given to them. After that, Maharashtra and Telangana police started sending security forces there after realizing the potential threat. A clash between the police and the Maoists began. In 2009, 53 police personnel of Maharashtra Police Force lost their lives in Gadchiroli area. The police planned a strategy. Various schemes of the government were taken to the Bhamragarh area in Gadchiroli to solve the problems of the locals. Arrangements were made to issue Aadhaar card, caste certificate, PAN card at the police station. Various schemes were started in the police station to reach various governments.”

 

“We Started imparting employment training to local youth, women. Today, many local youths are working in big industries in Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur. He won the trust of the citizens of the remote areas of Gadchiroli and the support of the citizens to the Maoist movement decreased. The police realized that the battle started with the Maoists would be possible to win on the faith of the locals. The various schemes implemented by the police have got good success till date. A conscious effort was made to inculcate Maoist ideology in urban areas. Leaders of the Maoist movement worked at various levels like gaining sympathy, gaining support from urban youth, and raising funds. The police took action against those spreading Maoist ideology in urban areas and working undercover” concluded Goyal.
