Pune Rains | Bhor Taluka Battling Heavy Rainfall; Life Disrupted, Waterfalls Overflowing

Pune : Pune Rains | Bhor taluka is currently experiencing heavy rainfall, with Shirvali in Hirdoshi Valley recording the highest rainfall of approximately 142 mm. The downpour has resulted in the flooding of streams, rivers, and waterfalls in the mountains, significantly impacting daily life. The Meteorological Department had issued a warning for heavy rainfall between July 18th and July 22nd, and the prediction has been accurate, with Bhor taluka receiving the maximum rainfall.

 

Various areas in Bhor taluka, such as Varandh Ghat on the Bhor-Mahad road and Ambadkhind on the Bhor-Mandhardevi road, are witnessing a large number of waterfalls cascading from the mountain valleys due to the heavy rain. Streams are overflowing, posing challenges for the local population. While the heavy rainfall has accelerated paddy planting work, it has also disrupted normal life in the region.

 

The impact of the rain can be seen on the water levels of the dams in the area. The Niradevghar dam is 36.25 percent full, the Bhatghar dam is 32.73 percent full, and the Gunjavani dam is 33 percent full, all due to the heavy rains in Bhor and Velhe talukas.

 

Rainfall in Bhor taluka has been substantial, with Pangari receiving 111 mm, Shirgaon 26 mm, Bhutonde 39 mm, Hirdoshi 16 mm, Shirvali 142 mm, and other areas also experiencing significant rainfall. The Velha Taluka recorded 100 mm in Gisar, Dasve Varasgaon saw 109 mm, Bhatghar Dharan received 80 mm, Niradevar Dam witnessed 58 mm, and Ambwade and Sangamner recorded 50 mm and 27 mm respectively. Bholava witnessed 37 mm of rain.

 

In light of the warning issued by the Meteorological Department, the administration has cautioned residents about the heavy rainfall expected in Ghatmathya, Pune district, for four days from July 18th to July 22nd. The continuous downpour has prompted authorities to remain vigilant and take necessary measures to minimize any adverse impact on the local population.
