Pune Police Crime Branch | Drug Smuggler Arrested, Large Quantity of MDMA Seized by ANC Pune
Pune : Pune Police Crime Branch | The Anti Narcotics Cell Pune (ANC Pune) at Bhavani Peth has successfully apprehended a drug smuggler and seized a significant quantity of MDMA (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine) worth Rs 10 lakh 40 thousand from him. A case has been registered against the accused at Samarth Police Station, Pune Police Crime Branch reported.
The arrested individual has been identified as Mujahid Anwar Shaikh, a 25-year-old resident of Golden City, SRA Colony, near Roshan Masjid, Bhawani Peth, Pune. The incident unfolded on Tuesday when the anti-narcotics squad officers, Police Naik Sahil Shaikh, and Police Constable Azim Shaikh received information that the suspect was expected to arrive near Roshan Masjid for a narcotics transaction. The information was verified and acted upon accordingly.
A police team laid a trap and successfully detained Mujahid Anwar Shaikh. A total of contraband worth Rs 10 lakh 50 thousand, including MDMA worth Rs 10 lakh 40 thousand, and a mobile phone worth Rs 10 thousand, were seized from his possession. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against him at Samarth Police Station.
This operation was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Ritesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik, Additional Commissioner of Police Ramnath Pokale, Deputy Commissioner of Police Amol Zende, Assistant Commissioner of Police Satish Govekar. The team, led by Police Inspector Sunil Thopte, Police Sub-Inspector DL Chavan, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ghule, and Police Constables, displayed exemplary teamwork and dedication in carrying out the arrest and seizure.
